Turkish beer: Efes, have you tried?

Oldest brewery in Turkey has started to operate during Ottoman Empire times in 1890. Most of the people think Ottomans used to be very conservative and religious with Sharia law and including alcoholic beverages there were many restrictions in public life. However from some historical inscriptions we know; as there were very restrict Sultans about booze and cigarette using, there were some Sultan’s who enjoyed drinking and smoking quite a lot. Today if you ask for beer in any booze serving restaurant, there is a high chance you will be served one Efes. It has a brewery in Izmir that’s why it is named after the ancient city of Ephesus.

Efes beer has a clear honey colour with sparkly bubbles, light and sweet tasted. It might be a good refresher in a hot summer day after a long touring day.
